In two of my hives the bees seem to be chewing away at the foundation in the supers. I put the supers on when the body's had 8-9 frames filled. Could anyone tell me what they are doing?

Is it all the foundation all over or just some of the foundation all over or just around bottom, top, and/or sides?

Some on bottom only inch wide sections or so and the corners of the foundation are rounded off

Makes me wonder if;

you don't have right beespace between top and bottom frames.

Bees have been known to remove foundation in some areas to build up comb or make repairs in others.  The holes on the bottom corners could also be communication holes, right?

If there is no flow, they won't draw the wax.  I would pull it off for now, before they ruin it, or the heat makes it buckle or go wavy.  I think they get bored and tear things up

Also if there is no flow and empty wax setting around they will steal from it when they need wax.
