When is the best time to start a new hive in Texas (NE DFW area)?

I've read it's in the spring....let me rephrase my question a bit....ya think I could get away with staring it within the next couple weeks? This winter has been mild in Texas. Trees are budding ect. Too early? March is so far away. I'm totally new to this, but I'd go get the hive ect tomorrow if I could! Can't wait to get started. Patience just isn't my virtue  :needhelp:

How are you starting?  I am about 5 hours South of you and all of mine were hauling pollen in by the buckets today with a high of 84 degrees today.  What are bees doing around you right now?  What are the plants doing around you?  If you don't start now.....you should definitely be getting ready.  The show is not far off.

   Even if you could get bees now, I think it best to hold off a bit because we (you) could still have some very cold weather in Dallas area. Do you have all your equipment to begin beekeeping? Have you ordered bees yet? Get all your gear and equipment ready and read as much as possible.  Try and find a club or a mentor who can actually show you how to do things.  Then, when the time is right and the spring flowers are in bloom start the hive and it will boom.
