Hello from Victoria, Texas

I'm a new top bar beek from Victoria, Texas. I caught 13 swarms in traps last year and now have 11 hives - 2 absconded. Did my first cutout on Friday (2/21/2014) and trapped the queen in a queen catcher - was awesome. Put the clip in the hive and got all the bees!!

Got 14 swarm traps out now just waiting for any takers. I learned extensively from McCartney Taylor at LearningBeekeeping.com. He gets major thanks for my quick success.

Have you looked into a beekeepers club near you. there is a lot of information on this forum but talking with locals always helps.   -Mike

The closest bee club is in Corpus Christi, about 1.5 hours away. I'm thinking about getting one started here in Victoria. But I definitely the only Victoria Top Bar beek. Thanks for the welcome!!

I am from Yoakum Texas.  I tried to find a closer beekeeping club than corpus, austin, or San Antonio. Have you had any luck or met any other beekeepers in the Victoria area?  I plan on getting my first hives in April 2015.  A mentor would b nice.  Also, have any hives you have caught seemed Africanized
