Hi

I've got two hives which are both brood boxes only.
I've recently fed them both to get them ready for winter(we get tough winters here)
Now both hives are full of bees and all frames are full of brood and honey.

We are probably only about a month off getting our first frost but I'm wondering if I may have built them up too early and still run the risk of swarming because of no room?

Is swarming still a risk this close to winter?

Thks

Why not add a super. If they need to grow they will. If not you can pull it off next month. One important question is: how is your flow. If there is nectar still coming in strong then an over crowded hive might swarm even late. A year ago January I collected 2 swarms, this is in the middle of winter for us. Weather was very warm until end of February then we had hard freezes, one after another. Surprisingly they both survived.

Hmmm, didn't think of that.

Thanks
