I'm on the list for a nuc in May. I'm gonna try natural management techniques and want to know if I should put the empty frames on the outside of the nuc frames or alternate them? What do you think will work best?  I'm gonna run ten frame equipment. Thanks.
It is what it is

Put your empties on the outside of the nuc frames.

I agree if you put an empty in the middle it will make it hard to keep warm on cool nights

If there is a good population of bees, I'd put one in the center of the brood nest and the rest on the edges.  If it's not that well populated, I'd put them all on the edges.
