I was at the Cornell's Museum of the Earth about 3 years ago. They had a chart of the temperature of Ithaca over Millions of years. The chart showed that the average temp was about 80 deg. then it would dip down to about 40 deg for a short time then go back to 80. Repeated time and again. The chart showed a average year round temp of 46 deg now. So I would say yes we will have warming no matter what we do. I don't know if they still have it up or someone has convinced them to take it down because of PC.

chux, i agree. it was accepted and the people that said it was round were called "crazy".  people that said the earth revolved around the sun were persecuted.
switch, that's kind of a non answer if you're talking to me.  i've already agreed that it will happen with or without us but i'm asking if you think we have absolutely no effect whatsoever in the rate which it happens at.  i don't see any way that our existence and some of our practices can't have an impact.
i'm not trying to be chicken little but i'm not an ostrich either.

I do think we have a effect on the climate. When you replace a forest with a parking lot. All the solar heat being released by burning fuel. But do you think that will make a huge difference? Not much. The world has seen a lot of co2 over its life. I think that what is being taught in schools and on TV almost every night. Is just another way to reach in our pocket and pull out more money. Take Mr. Gore for example if he was to practice what he preached he would be riding a bicycle. He uses more electric in one of his houses than 20 other houses. Yes I am a proud denier.

mr. gore is right up there with michael moore as far as i'm concerned.  a sensationalist that will do anything for a profit then point his finger at the other guy for doing the same.
i'm not sure how much impact we have and i do think that some things are probably blown out of proportion. i don't think we're helping any, though.

I think active volcanic periods can eclipse mans airborn pollutants in a scale that would be hard to comprehend. And yeah I agree, most of those preaching are do as I say,not as I do.

ken, i would agree.  i also suspect that meteor impacts have played a role in the past as well.
