After checking my hives last week, My strongest hive was packed full of bees. That got me wondering. Does anyone know how many bees are there in a packed 10 frame deep or a 10 frame medium? When talking with friends about bees, someone almost always asks how many bees are in a hive.  I just thought I would try to find a better answer than a lot.  Thanks.

A lot sounds about right.  40k to 60k sounds more impressive, I guess.

Check this out. These are british frames so look at the second link and do the math. Interesting I thought. G  :chop:

Depends on wether your answer includes the young bees that have not hatched or not. A standard deep 3/4 full of brood has about 2000 bees on each side. It takes 1 bee to cover 3 brood. Do the math. :) :
