We haven't had a lot of cold this year, so far...supposed to get down to 15F tonight  But my lime tree and a basil plant are blooming in my greenhouse and the bees know how to get in when they smell the lime. I went in there Sunday and saw only one bee and she had her pollen sacks full of gray looking pollen. The week before I was just standing looking at bees going in and out of one hive and one girl came in with her pollen sacks full of bright orange pollen.

Anyone know what could be having pollen this time of year? Oh, yeah, and the buttercups are already breaking ground here too.

Not sure what your gray pollen is. I see a lot of colors this time of the year. It's a great time to take pictures to show people who pollen just isn't yellow.

I think it's pretty cool how bees act as specialist, foraging one type of plant at a time.
