Reminds me of Robert Service's poems from the Klondike gold rush days.  Fun poetry.  When I taught English (one year of my younger life), I used that kind of poetry to try to show my students not all poetry was musty.  Needless to say, I was disciplined by the head of the department for using anapproved material.
