It is Summer here in New Zealand.
Transferred 3 frames of brood/eggs + 1 of stores + undrawn frame into a nuc. No queen or cell as I wanted to let them produce their own.
After 3 days I saw a few queen cells with royal jelly so it was looking good.
I took a look today and it almost looks like there is a hole at the back of the cells that may even connect to other side of frame.
The cells aren't exactly big and one of them looks as though some of it has been chewed off.
Pictures aren't the best but you can see below. What is going on here, has my attempt failed? Can I try give them another frame of eggs/brood?

Looks like the top cell was attached to the next frame over and got torn. You can try another frame of eggs/brood, that'll settle whether they're happy with what they've got. Looks like your kinda sparse on bees, maybe give em a shake or two of bees at the entrance to boost the population.
Can't ever say that bk'n ain't a learning experience!

I would have gone the other way.  1 brood and eggs and three stores with lots of bees.

Ditto rwlaw.  Not all is lost.  Personally, I'd pull a frame of open brood from another hive, leaving the attending nurse bees on there and add them to this nuc.  Make VERY sure the queen is not on this frame.  You might even consider shaking another frame of bees in there too, again make VERY sure the queen isn't on that frame either.

Consider temporarily removing a frame from the nuc to get more space in there to avoid them bridge combing a queen cell.  Once you can see they've got queen cells going if you can add the frame back without damaging them do so.  If not leave it out but expect them to build some wonky comb you'll eventually have to tear out to put the 5th frame back in (assuming 5 frame nuc)  I see no stores either.  Is a flow of any type going on right now?  If not give them a bit of syrup to help feed the queen/brood too.
Ninja, is not in the dictionary.  Well played Ninja's, well played...
