I have to put to hives in a freezer for wax worm.  I don't  have space in the one in the house.  Can I put a freezer in the garage that is not insulated.

Make sure it has two thermostats.  One for the freezer and one for the frig.
If it only has one it will be in the frig.  Your freezer may not run when it's real cold out.
I have a frig with one thermostat.  I get a lot of freezer thawing in the winter.

I have a up right freezer outside under a shed and it works ok!

I have a freezer and a refrigerator/freezer in my garage - Seems to be ok.  I live in south texas.  On really hot days the compressors may run a bit more and increase your electric bill a little

Yes.  I have almost always had a chest freezer where it froze in freezing weather.  Very cheap to run in the winter...

Have a chest freezer on dolly in driveway. Been there for five years. Still runs great. Use it during witer and rain. Have plug in weather pack to keep dry.

I am sure that if you read the manufactures literature it will say not to do this and that it will violate the warranty.  The reason for this is if the compressor sits for 2, 3, 4, months or more with out running it may seize up. How ever, as others have already said here, its a common practice and few have that problem. Mine in is a heated garage, but i heat the garage for the water pipes not the freezer. Personally, i would have no qualms about it.

I just went through this. If you read the specs for the freezer, which are usually online, it usually says something along the line of "Temperatures of 32?F (0?C) and below will NOT affect operation," or "Temperature range - Okay to use in areas that get down to -4? and up to 109?"  Typically, the older or simpler the freezer, the more likely it can go in an unheated space. The fancy, new, computerized units can't.
