I made some deep boxes from reclaimed lumber and it looks like one of my box joint fingers popped out due to a flaw in the wood (old elevator crates) Now my girls have a new "top entrance" they are using and guarding LOL. Its on the second deep in a double deep setup so while not  true top entrance it provides them a shortcut to the second brood box and they are definitely using it.....I cant find the little piece of wood anywhere inside though...checked the boxes last week when I was inside inspecting and its not in there so wondering if the girls "pushed it out" when they realized it was loose?

Changes in Latitudes...Changes in Attitudes....are Florida Keys bees more laid back than the rest of the country...only time will tell!!!

I am using rough cut lumber from my home made saw mill.  If I ever get bees going, they may find all kind of entrances.  My logs have not been many that are defect free.  It is still all fun.
