Hive body repair

I have a few hive bodies where a corner is chewed or rotted open. The bees will use this for entering and leaving. In a perfect world I would toss and replace, but I am a cheap farmer who likes to repurpose. Any ideas on how to repair? wood putty? metal corners? What works best?

A piece of sheet metal warpped around the corner.  A siding corner will work, but is usually aluminum where steel will be stronger.

most of the farmers of my acquaintance have various pieces of sheet metal around their scrapyard.  Or scrapped around the yard     A piece of old siding, a pair of tin snips, et voila! hive patch kit.
