Hello! I just hived my first package of bees this year. I build a Kenyan top bar for basically free from scrap wood I had around. I even made a little window so I could watched them do their bee thing.

Are there any local beekeepers here in San Jose? I could really use a mentor. I have no idea what I'm doing. Even though I've read a lot of information, I feel like I've only barely read enough for now.

Welcome to the forum.  Nice looking hive.  If you can't find a local mentor, don't worry too much many of us have used this forum as their mentor.

Welcome, & same here. This forum was my mentor as well. Lots of valuable information exchanged on this website. 4th summer and at one time this year I had 42 colonies. Way too many bees but they just keep on multiplying.
