KeyLargoBees

No Yvonne they will feed her through the cage walls....I would check their temperament after three days and if she isn't out and they are tending her through the cage then release her manually . Some queen breeders are a little excessive with the candy plug and/or the bees sometimes don't "like" the plug and aren't as diligent about eating through it.

Cao I really have no clue what a true dearth is :-) We don't have one ...ever...where I keep bees LOL. There is always something blooming down here in the tropics. The only time I ever set off a robbing frenzy was the time I transported a colony in an owl box back to my yard and did the cutout 50 feet from my hives....that was a bad scene and even though the bees cleaned it up when I was done with the cutout I ended up losing a weak NUC in the process before I realized they were being robbed out so yes it can happen but certainly isnt typical ;-P

Ok. Thanks Jeff. Tomorrow is day 3 so I'll check on her then.

We may be going into a bit of a dearth around here. There is still plenty of mustard grass though and our prickly pear is in full bloom.
I'd rather be playing with venomous insects
