I read allot when and before I attempt anything new such as beekeeping and this includes the archives at the bee forums I frequent... that said one thing that I have learned and see over and over at the forums in the burning desire by folks such as me that are new to beekeeping to piddle, probe, over ponder, panic, and annoy the bees in our keep. now having learned this early fortunately and being the "don't fix it till it's broke" type I am much more inclined to just let the colonies be unless I see and then research the need for me to intervene.  so far it has worked well and the help here has been always available, but being in Arizona I must often rethink some of the advise to fit my environment, but I do remember to do this and it is very important to pay attention to the location of others trying to help and mentor from 6 states away.

so I guess I am totally amazed at the sheer number of folks that cause serious issues and even lose a colony over panic mode intervention that was not needed and caused way more damage then help. Then there is the human desire to make things better with all kinds of gizmos and treats etc. that bees just do not "need" I see it almost on a daily basis and some folks do it over and over it seems.

Thank goodness you folks are here to at least try to help, but even then I see folks argue the answer because it was not what they wanted to hear...

Not trying to criticize anyone here, but I just think that years of experience available through reading and forums to simply NOT meddle when not needed should be the number one focus and to learn first off how to train yourself to do that.

I know for sure my hives do some strange stuff sometimes in my opinion that sends me to the educational materials, but I am sure to them it is just normal behavior....

Where am I going? Not sure, but to remind myself and others to take things slow and learn before ya jump in to save your bees or you may just do more harm than good.

But it wouldn't be beekeeping if we didn't disagree and argue over stuff. Wink.

True and that is where much of my learning has come from is reading answers and learning different approaches to the same problem. Often several will work, but can also be dependent on location.
