Rurification

My set up looks really similar to cao's pic.

I use a setup like Robin describes. You can kind-d-sort-a regulate how much syrup the bees get by how many holes you put in the lid.

At the web site www.outyard.net
Under the tab outyard apiary > honeybee care > feeding  The lazy Beekeeper shows a way to feed several jars at a time.

I too use almost same setup as well, but have my feeder hole to the back more and to one side over outer frames so it does not leak on center brood....

I added my top feeders. I'm just using my plastic jars for now. I made an oops and put the feeder on the wrong side of the top board which got me to thinking, that hole gives them access to their hive from the rear. Do I want this?

Hey Flex, let me make sure I understand. We are looking at the inner cover that has the hole? Right now in my yard I wouldn't do that because we are in a dearth and the girls are in a full robbing mode. If you didn't have a feeder there it most likely wouldn't be a problem.

If that's just a spacer created for them to have an upper entrance then take it off. I got creative and did that this year. Talk about burr comb!

GSF,
Yes it is. When you put the top on right side up they can't get to the hive that way. That's how I had them before. I just closed them off for now
