What methods are some of you using for feeding corn syrup? I bought some recently just in case I might need it. This stufff is like--well maybe super glue or STP oil additive(very, very, very thick and viscous),almost too thick to pour. I don't know if something like this would work in any of the feeders or feeding methods I have tried.I think Dick Allen might have posted something about this subject, and he mentioned a method of pumping it into styro nucs. How would you deliver it to regular hive bodies. I am only talking about a few colonies that may need feeding,so a low tech approach would be nice.

Here in florida i use a 5# feeder jar on the top of the hive cover.

I use a hive top from mann lake. Just make sure the sides /telescoping top are bee proof so bees dont get in and drown by the hundreds.

I use a Tablespoon, the girls line up on my arm

Just Kiddin'.
I use old Tang bottles and glue a feeder plug on them. I did away with the hive top feeders, too cumbersome for me .

I no not know your "clue syrup" but I suppose that you should add warm water into it to get it liguid  what bees can lick. Do you know the sugar content of it?

Thanks for the ideas everyone, and I really can't answer your question Finman. The label on the 60 pound pail reads     42/42 DE CORN  SYRUP
                          1oo % Pure Corn Syrup

It is at least two times as thick as honey,I bought it at a bakery warehouse for $24.00 in US funds. I am going to try and call a sales rep, maybe they can offer some more specific information.I think it will probably get much thicker as the temperature gets lower. When I do dilute it,I will use my hydrometer and thin it to the brix of honey, which I am pretty sure is 1.40 on the scale.

Feeding Corn syrup is like feeding honey, all you need to do is thin it out a bit and the bees will take it.  1:1 or 2:1, either will work--just like sugar syrup.
