Next step for my nuc's?

I would like some input on the next step I should take with some nucs I made up in october and november.  Most are bursting at the seems and bringing in pollen like there is a unlimited supply.  I tried an experiment where I took another 5 frame nuc box with drawn foundation and put it on top of the other with a thin suryp jar.  One week later the top box was filling up with the syrup on outer frames and the middle frames with brood and some just capped.  The question is to get these hives going the fastest should I do the same for the other nuc's or just put the 5 frames in a 8 frame body and then be done with the nuc boxes?  The idea came from someone that told me that the bee's build up better than going out.  Another side note is that my winter is basicly over and the red maples and such are going to bloom soon.

If you're running out of room, I'd move them to bigger quarters.

Moving them to bigger quarters is the plan but to witch direction to go is the question.  Another nuc box on top or the five frame nuc to a 8 frame body?

Dallas,

I'd add another nuc to the top until they filled it out. Then I'd transfer it to a 10 frame. That is what I did last season with my swarms and it worked for me. My mentor tells me that small colonies survive the winter better in nucs.

My 2 cents.

If it was spring here in Denmark and I have changed from 10 to eight frames boxes, I would transfer the nuc to the eight frame box now and fill out with build out frames. Then handle as you would do normaly.

It doesn't really matter.  What do you want them to end up in?

Both adding a nuc box and changing to a 8 frame box are acceptable options.  Only you can decide.  If you go to an 8 frame box the bees will spread out a bit, if you go for another nuc box the hive will move up as new comb is build.  If you move to an 8 frame box now your adding three frames, another nuc box is 5 frames.  When you move 2 nuc boxes to 8 frames you'll have to use 2 8 frames boxes adding 6 more frames right away.  Hope this helps in your decision making.
