bad queens

One consideration in on the subject of Australian queens.  Australia does not have varroa (yet) and so the bees are not treated with the varity of chemicals they are in the USA.  I see the chemical treatments of bees in the US as being the cause of frequent supercedure and queen failure as well as a high incident of drone layers.  As long as we treat with chemicals we weaken the bees and prevent them from becoming resistant.
The best US queen stocks I've heard of are SMR/Hygenic.
