My Gloden Bee Products suit has arrived. Ordered 1-6-07 and it came today 2-24-07. I think it is a real good suit from what I've seen. It has got to be alot cooler from other suits I've looked at. My first package should be here 4-18-07 and I can't wait to try it out. Starting out foundationless working towards small cell and an unlimited brood nest. My second year I hope to try Checkerboarding. Can't wait.

You will love the suit.  The gloves are kind of silly, but the suit is awesome.

Where are you located?  It's probably time to Checkerboard anywhere that it's reasonably warm.

Micheal, when is the best time to  start checker boarding? I'm in central N.C.

If we are talking about alternating honey and drawn comb ABOVE the brood nest, in you location I would do it now.  If you want to read Walt's manuscript, last I heard was $8 in a pdf by email or $10 on paper. You can contact him at this address: Walt Wright; Box 10; Elkton, TN 38455-0010; or WaltWright_at hotmail dot com (Encoded to avoid the spambots. Don't forget the underscore).

Here's some of the detail of checkerboarding:

and some of Walts articles from Beeculture:

Michael I live in Cheney Ks about 30 miles from Wichita. This Is my first year so I won't be able to checkerboard. Would you recommend a different pair of gloves. Anyway thanks for the advice on the suit. I like it.

Blasphemy I know, but I tried to do what I understood to be checkerboarding one of my hives last year and it seems to help.  Really makes sense.  Don't have walts article yet, but definitely going to pick it up.

No, I'd use those until they tear.  Then I'd get a different pair of gloves.  :)  I like simple leather gloves (buckskin or doe skin is nice) tucked into the sleeve and velcroed.

If you edit your profile and add this to your "location" there, it will be easier for the other members to provide good answers later too.  In addition, you will be added to the beemaster membership maps as long as "KS" or "Kansas" is a part of your location text :-)
