1. Does he have a problem with swarms?
They do swarm quite a bit, he collects them whenever he can. Keep in mind, he travels on a bicycle. :shock:
2. What are the plants around his hives?
Bannanas, Coconuts and every flower you can imagine.
3. When is the best time of year for harvasting?
He pulls the honey as soon as its capped. His average is about 60 kilos per hive (125 lbs)
4. How does he get his queens? I am assuming he raises and harvests his own queens. I am curious as to how he does it.
Swarm cells when he sees them. Splits, when he can. He does not buy Queens. (too expensive)
5. How many brood chambers does he run on a standard hive?
Mostly one brood chamber with a deep as a super.
6. Does he ever have overheating problems with his hives?
His tops are sorta layered. Wood top cover, newspaper,tin roof,and shade leaves.
7. What pest and predators are a problem for his hives?
Ants (formiga) and thieves  :-x

Muchas gracias, newbee101. Very interesting, more or less what is usual here.

Southern Nigeria
1. Same here. Also beeks tend to have at least one empty hive in their apiaries, hoping for a swarm to move in.

2. Bananas yes, few Coconuts in my area. Have a list of plants of my area, in case anybody is interested.

3. same, maybe once a month.

4. same.

5. same with "Langstroth's", also beeks have TBH's.

6. mostly hives are kept in the shade here in the South. No problems with heat.

7. humanoids, that is why I am building a beehouse, to keep intruders away. Then ants are a pest, wax moth some.
