i just hived two packages.  most of the foundation i had in the supers was drawn already.  both packages seem to be quite strong.  spring flow is strong.

?  should i add extra supers before i leave?  i would be gone as long as 3 weeks.  i'm sure they'd be ok without feeding.

hubby can handle it, but i don't know if he'll have time to add supers, or that he'd know when to do it while i'm gone. (if i go :-) )

Tell hubby to wait two weeks and then add. By then you should have completed the build up and they should be close to full on the cells. If you flow is good, then to weeks give them enough time to complete the build and then you will be back one week later so no major damage can be done.

thanks.  i have the frames on the floor here getting them ready for him. it should be pretty easy for him (i hope). for some reason there are not many flights between NJ and Porland, so i have to get out of here kind of early in the AM.

I have a similar question, so any advice would be appreciated. I am leaving town for 2 -1/2 weeks. They are not ready for a new super now, Just starting to draw comb on most of the frames in the one I placed on 10 days ago and actually filled one whole frame with honey (surprise)!! With that one frame filled up so quickly with honey I am beginning to think it will start to go fast now and they might run out of room. What to do. Do I place an extra super on before I leave?? I do not have anyone to help me.

The weather is warming up here - supposed to get into the 70's to 80's by next week, so I really do not have to worry about the extra room causing them to get cold.

Let me know please,
Thank you
