I just got a call to remove a colony from a local business.  Apparently it is in one of their barrels they sell for collecting rain water.  It has also apparently been there for 3-4 years now.  I am just going to take the entire barrel to my bee yard to remove them and then give back the barrel after they are out.

Bmac, that barrel is gonna be heavy. Get a friend to help you lift it.

alright.  I stopped by real quick Friday afternoon and checked them out.  Everything looked good.  I went back at 9pm with one of the employees, and loaded the entire barrel on my truck and drove them out to the bee yard.  Dropped them off and opened the cork back up.  They were not even upset from the trip.  They are still in the barrel.  If the weather is nice tomorrow I am going to remove them.  I peaked in with a flash light and the colony is on the lid (which is where I thought it would be).  I will take many pics and post them when I am done with it.

At the same time I will post pics of the colony I removed from a roof earlier this spring.

Ok last pic.  This one is after I placed them all in the new box, you can see the girls out there waiving the come hither scent around.  I just thought it was cool and a picture needed to be taken.

Later I will post some pics of the roof cut out.

That is just a very old bottom board/box I bought used.  The previous owner painted it.

That is a removal that anyone can have fun doing, and a great one to earn experience on. I agree B-mac, they hadn't been there very long, weeks at most. Great job.
