Reagan,
You have way better eyes than I do. I have looked at that picture several times, on my phone, I don?t know how you can tell how many wings it has.

Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote.

No problem.  And don't feel bad, you aren't the first to be fooled by the fly's mimicry, and you certainly won't be the last!   I saw one of these flies mimicking a bumble bee last year, and it took me a good long look to realize it wasn't actually a bumble bee.  I have some pictures of it on this post.  https://beemaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=55438.msg506586#msg506586

On beelife's picture it is very difficult to see to count the wings; I was clued in on that photo initially by the antennae, the mouthparts, and the position of the wings.  Because they only have 2 wings, most flies hold their wings out at an angle when they are resting, they don't stack them over their back like a bee does.
I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led.  And through the air, I am she that walks unseen.
