I've showed up (after a 60 mile drive) to find that the swarm was gone and the place it was smelled like Raid.  When I asked the homeowner, they seemed to think that was a pretty normal thing to do...

But why call me?

That's like someone saying you can have a horse they don't want, but, oh by the way, they poisoned it a few minutes ago.

People get desperate sometimes and will keep calling until the first person shows up with complete disregard for the guys or gals that made plans to go over and assist them. This of course is just not right. I try my best to inform a caller in detail, that I will be coming over at such and such time, can you write this down and make a note of it? Because I am putting you on my schedule as we speak. Of course some people are just so self centered that they don't even have a clue that its not always about "them". I try to get paid if I made an effort to make someone elses' problem my problem, but  you can't beat it out of them, although the thought does enter the mind.

Cindi, I so agree with your advise of sleeping on it. I think that our minds have much more ability than we give credit. When we are awake I think that we actually block some of our minds ideas, sounds a little strange I know. I do a lot of consulting and I always tell my clients to employ a little trick that has worked well for me. It is called the night stand notebook, I always wake up with great ideas, and or solutions to the problems of life. If I don't sit up and write them down then I always forget. You would be amazed the ideas and solutions that my clients, friends, and myself have come up with or rather our brains have at 3:00am.... Little off topic I know, but I thought you were so right in your comments.
Heading out today to put some of Robo's sugar boards on for my girls. I have lost 4 of the twelve hives that were given to me. I can't wait to approach the knowledge of a beekeeper, I am just a beehaver at this point and it is frustrating. One step forward and two steps back it seems like. Plus the 47 feet of snow this year hasn't helped. We did finally get a plow all the way out to the animals though. So no more snowshoeing for now at least. They are saying snow this weekend though&$@#*^$$ Enough, Enough.

I believe there is research that indicates while sleeping, our subconscious makes sense of our days and problem solving ocurrs. At least that is how it works for me. I am one that dreams a lot, and I often wake up with solutions to problems. The mind is working while we sleep.

My rules on cut outs are simple. If someone else has tried and failed. I won't give any honey out. I also will not save the honey. I will simply melt the comb down when I get home and make candles with it. Brood frames I try to save as many as I can. I will then try to feed the the hive if it needs it or I will put a honey, pollen and brood frame from a good hive.
