Good evening all!

I just got my first hive

2 Hive Bodies
2 Supers, medium

They are made out of Eastern Pine! I am going to paint them when I get them.

My question is the frames that I got for the deeps & medium suppers are: (Pierco Plastic Waxed Frames)!  Shoul I replace those with wooden frames?
What do you think? give the plastics a try or stick to wooden frames!

Thank you! On a good note I will be getting my bees on May 3rd! I just finished my first beekeeping class and I can't wait to install the bees in the yard near my vegetable garden in the spring.

Thank you

I think the Pierco plastic frame and foundation are all one piece. The frame doesn't separate  from the rest of it.
It  wouldn't hurt to rub a little bees wax or spray sugar syrup on them just before hiving the package of bees.

What is your goal?  If you want natural sized or small sized cells, then yes.  Otherwise, the plastic will work as well or better than most large cell foundation (Pierco deep frames are about 5.25mm.

With plastic frames begin airing them out as soon as you get them--do not leave them in the box or wrapped up.  The bees dislike the odor of plastic so airing them out is, IMO, essential.  The either or both coat with more wax, if feasable, or spray with simple syrup over each frame at the time you install the bees.
