bahia grass pollen

 Did not have any clue that bees also get pollen fron bahia grass til this AM. Walking around my pond watching them on the lily pad blooms I could hear the buzz. All around my feet, back legs full of pollen. Working the stems. DW said it wouldn't work, plenty of bahia in the pasture, still need to mow.  :-D

Thats good to know.  Got 40acres of it growing 50 feet from my hives. :)

Bahia grass?
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

Bahia grass is commonly grown here in the South for cattle hay and pasture.  Sends up a stem with a large y shaped head that has almost microscopic blooms.

Mine is actually Tifon 9 a hybrid Bahia grass developed in Tifton Ga about 30yrs ago.  Produces millions of seed heads to the acre.  Check out -   bahiagrass.com/info/tifton9.html
