I rember seing it somewhere, if you did a search you would find plenty of recipes for pollen patties.

Michael Bush

You take pollen and mix in just enough honey to make it like bread dough.  Put a ball of it between waxed paper and press it with a rolling pin.

Yes, The receipt is in my receipt pile with the rest of the receipts for beekeeping supplies....  Jim's link is a good one for a recipe.

Thanks Jim,

The recipe mentions collecting pollen from cattails, which I just tried.  This answered a question that's been puzzling me from the middle of July.  One of my hives have been bringing in dark pollen since then, and I was perplexed as to what the source was.  I had suspicions that it could be cattails.  Now, I most certainly believe it was.  The collected pollen is cocoa brown and matches what I was seeing in their baskets.

Also, as reinforced in the article, purchased honey is an "ify" source of sugars for the bees without processing.  I'm sure Michael's honey is "pure", but I wouldn't trust the stuff off the shelf at the local IGA.

Oh, and Nate, don't quit your day job.  Comedy is a tough racket to break in to.  You need better material.
