i think the summer heat is making you boys twitchy!

the nice thing about bees is that they tend to survive in spite of our actions rather than because of our actions!

there is such a wealth of info on this site, and so many experienced beekeepers, that we all can usually find ways to do things that will work for our individual circumstances.  the hard part is analyzing it all and fitting it into what we need to do.  it all comes together with some experience and some thoughtful experimentation.

Not at all, some things just need to be brought up openly so they can be discussed and gotten past.  Else I'm just going to keep getting on Rob's nerves and eventually this forum will lose it's openness and friendliness.  That's all.

But I do feel bad for hijacking Annette's thread here, so I'll turn it back over to her by asking her for an update.

PS - oh, and Rob, you're still an alright guy in my book.

Another update!!!! Went up to visit them this evening again at 0730PM and many were flying all over again and clustering on the ground in back of the hive again, but much less.  I am not worried anymore as it seems like they will probably get it eventually.

I guess what happened - I was not expecting this to happen, so did not understand it. I am feeling much better and I thank each and every one of you for the input and for getting me through this. You people are all I have when it comes to the bees and I truly depend on all the input I receive.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend

Annette, I wonder if rotating the hive 90 degrees overnight would cause them to re-orient themselves... I think there would be some risk to that, though, the risk would be that if they didn't re-orient themselves, they could end up a long way away from the hive, and unable to find their way back.

Not sure what that would do, but not necessary at this point. They are finding their way back to the hive every evening although it is absolutely insane with bees everywhere during the day. It is slowly getting better I can see that.

Yeah, it would be a bit late to even try it.  My thought though is that if they emerge from the hive, and the sun is in a completely different side of the hive than normal, it might force them to re-orient themselves... but if not, they could end up hopelessly lost as they would be travelling in the wrong direction to return to the hive.
