So they finally got me.  After three months of this beekeeping game, one of the girls got me through my sock right on the shin bone.  The sting didn't feel nearly as bad as a mosquito bite and I'm thinking, "Hey, this is no big deal!  Teeny Weeny bite.  No problem."  The next morning my ankle's swollen so bad I can hardly bend it.

Showed me, didn't they.......

Hunh, my ankle has been the worst of a bunch of stings painwise. Some lasted no time at all. Forearm was swollen the longest and itched the worst.

Yep, forearm is the worst one that I have had. Got two stings there a couple of weeks ago. It was a good one for sure. By far the most painful yet, and the most swollen.
Welcome to the official club now. We were going to show up and haze you, but now we don't have too.

PS I just noticed that you are in Norwalk. I was born in Norwich, I would love to see some pics of your apiary sometime. Just to get me all homesick and everything.... :-D

Hey Frantz.  Big difference between CT and UT, huh?  If I ever get myself together enough to actually take the camera out there with me, I shall send you a scenic shot of my front yard, hive included, tourists welcome.

Yeah when they got me on my ankle, I could not go to work the next day it was so awful. Now I wear my rain boots all the time

i have to agree the forearm is the worest i took 6 from not ummmm smoking my bees before i took off the screen on the new hive.  took one on the arm 3 on the chin and 2 in the ear.  next time i've gotta learn not to be so lazy.
Take me to the land of milk and honey!!!

Frantz

Yea, big difference between CT and UT, but it has been a while since I have been back. My grandmother still lives back east on the water in MD. So I have been back there quite a bit. Oh, how I would love to sit on the dock with a mess of crabs in the steamer and an unlimited supply of Old Bay.... Ocean City MD, the board walk, and some of the other areas were on the list this year, but the economy has decided otherwise. I would love to see pics of the aviary for sure.
I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful area in UT so I cannot complain, "its a dry heat"!!!
BTW, my forearm fiasco was also due to not having the smoker with me and just moving ahead anyway. Why do we do that. You would think that we (beeks) would be smarter than that.  :?

Congratulations!  I had built up the first sting in my mind and when it happened I thought, "That was it?"  Then after a few more stings that swelled up a lot I started reading about building immunity to the venom and stung myself twice in the forearm and left the stingers in for about 15 minutes.  Wrong place...fortunately the great folks on this forum gave me reassurance.  My whole arm blew up like a watermelon and hurt so %$#*@! bad for 2 days that I half thought amputation would be a relief! 5 days later the effects were completely gone.

 Congrats on the first sting!!
Its bad for me when they sting around my ankles..Makes my bottom part of my leg get edema. Its bad too when it starts to itch....Because my FAT Arse wont let me bend down good enough to scratch it!
