It had been a while, so thought I'd check the girls. You know the calm, could care less that I was there, bees.  Didn't use a smoker as it hasn't been necessary.  Usually would only have one bee chase me for 20 feet.  Not this time; it was several bees and they followed me for over 100 feet.  The weather's been good.  It's a new hive and I've not taken any of their honey.  Caught me by surprise.  Glad I was suited up (not that I have a choice in that matter).  Anyway, I've now seen their other side.  Hopefully next time they will be back to their better selves.  I guess we all have off days now and then.

This time of year the bees tend to get more aggressive.  I have had many angry bees trying to get into my veil recently.  In fact, one did yesterday and gave me a bit of a sting on the nose.

They are guarding against robbing and also it is a bit cooler now too.  Respect the bees.

Do you have much of a nectar flow--- If not guess why they think you are there ;)!

My bees tend to be more aggressive this time of year.

We can't go in our yard at the moment, they are so mean, but it is not just that there is less nectar, it is because 2 hives are queenless.

Did you see queen cells when you checked on them and they were testy?
