My two hives have made good stores over the winter. The evil hive is fine, I replaced the lid today for one that I put about 4 coats of car paint on. Will have to add another super to it asap, within 2 weeks max. They have filled the drawn foundation I put in for winter very well. Im also going to swap the top super box for one I have finished making.

The not so evil hive is great too, although aggressive. I opened it up yesterday, removed the top of the two supers and broke away a decent join between the two, that was unfortunately of brood that was just about to hatch, carnage Im afraid, lost about 100 I spose. So they were mighty angry off at me. This will need its third super also in a few weeks. This hive has drawn all 8 frames of the top super in about a month, very good work.

Couldnt get near either for the rest of the day, couldnt get out the back door for 6 hours without being hounded by snipers.

So this summer I will have 2 hives of 3, maybe 4 full depth supers. Each one progressively better made and painted, glued and brass nailed.

Thats funny Mick!!!
1 inch and that causes a war!
I thought i had really tame bees earlier this year...In the last couple of weeks those little boogers get me even when i just walk by the hives!!
They chase me into the house too!
I'm thinkin' I mite just try my bee garb on and see if it still fits!!
The bees still try to get up my nose holes!!!..Good thing is, is that the beees what get into my nose holes dont have a stinger cuz its been stuck in me somewhere else already!
Boy, has time gone by fast!. I remember its seems just the other day you were going into Fall...And now you have spring again!...And my Fall is just around the corner!

You my friend need an outyard.
(or take them to work and keep them on the roof?)
There is nothing new under the sun. Only your perspective changes to see it anew.

Hi Ted,

Australia and NZ are importing beekeepers all the time. Skilled labour shortages attrqact special considerations re work visas.

If I was a business and wanted to import say someone to mow lawns, the government would say get stuffed, anyone can mow a lawn. But if you are running bees, the Government says gee who wants to get stung, import all you like!
