I need a source for 1" plastic plugs that I would use for alternative entrances or vent holes in supers. Mann Lake has 1 1/2" which seem too large. Thanks

are these 1" holes already drilled out, or are you planning on making them?

I believe the caps from plastic milk jugs are 1" maybe those might fit.

duct tape BUT make sure you put something over the sticky part over the hole, or bees will get stuck to it :-)

Try your local hardware store. If I'm not in mine once a week, they call and check on me.LOL. If they don't have it they can get it.

I am planning to make them.

tlozo,
I can'nt post links, but if you do a search for cap plugs there is a company called Mocap that offers frees samples.

If you must drill holes and then want to plug them Use the plastic caps for  1/2 inch PVC pipe.  It should just slip into a 1 inch hole.

since you're planning on making them, why not find a workable cap material at the hardware store or wherever  and then drill a hole to fit them.  A lot easier to make the right sized hole than to go the other way around.  Wine corks are good for around a 3/4" hole.  They are my preference, but that's because I have lots of them lying around.

Sounds like Brian found the right size for your 1" holes though.

Cap plugs are trash at construction sites. The are used to protect the threads on pipe.

They are some of the nucs I'm wintering.   I really like the polystyrene nucs and hives.  The bees seem to do real well in them.   The hives are ~10F warmer than wooden hives in the winter,  they build up much faster and use much less stores in the process.

then use their search on their site for: tapered polyethylene caps

I'd post the url but I don't have enough posts yet.

they go for 3 or 4 cents ea.  I've used them with good success although the orange color fades in less than a year.
