My best hive seems to be failing due to an aging queen.  It has been my most productive hive for four years until this year.  Also, gentle and little propolis.  I'm fairly certain it never swarmed.  It is not building up well at all this year and probably will not make any harvestable honey.  Is it okay to use that queen's eggs for new queens or would her age not make her daughter queens  good ones?

If she was good up til now I would go for it.
A good queen in age failing is different from a no good queen from the get go.
did I say that right?
In other words her age should not have any thing to do with the out come of a daughter.
was always my understanding. :)doak

Do it, raise queens from her. She's been a great queen for you so is a good thing to do. Her failing because of age is not a reason to not get daughters from her.

Thanks for all advice.  I plan to split to raise queens from her in a few weeks.

I have a new queen myself because of a hive that is slow right now.

First thing in the morning I am replacing her.

Good luck on her replacement !!
