Dipping in what?  Is this the wax dip or a paint dip?

nella

The hives that are dipped look nice. How often do you have to dip a hive for good protection?

My apologies, it would be paraffin/rosin dipping.  My understanding is that once it is dipped it is dipped because the paraffin and rosin actually soak into the wood.  Michael Bush has a cool write up on it.  I just know that as an individual it is not a very feasible way to protect your hives due to expense, but with what I have read and the people I have spoke with it is the best way to protect your wooden ware investment and the bees like it..
