Sorry for shouting about it, but I finally found eggs and larvae in the small swarm hive I caught last month. I guess the sun was just in the right position today, as I went up very early (about 0900) to check on them. This was such great news, but also the drone laying hive that had numerous queen cells apparently was successful as well because I saw numerous eggs today.

So 2 hives that I thought were queenless certainly have queens and I am thrilled.

But the most thrilling moment of all was in my hive with the 2 year old Italian Queen with the yellow dot.  She wasn't looking very strong last month and they did make a supercedure cell.  Well today I checked on them and there she was, a huge, fat, strong looking queen.  Just like those huge fat queens that JP is always showing photos of. And when I went to push the frames back together she walked out onto my gloves.  Oh My God!!! Please don't fly away was all I could think. I shook her back onto the frames and she went down in.

I am so thrilled and happy today for all the successes of my hives.  Looks like right now I have 4 good hives.

I am so happy today and wanted to share the good news.

I felt like it was a very magical moment when the queen walked out onto my glove.  I should have curtsied before her and said "Your Majesty".

I am thrilled that the small umbrella swarm has a queen also.  Now they can get to work and start to build up. Since this was my first ever swarm and under very special circumstances (the umbrella) I am truly thrilled that it is going to work out for them.

Thanks for sharing my exciting moment.

I know how you feel.  I had my strongest hive swarm on may 15.  There were 3 separate clusters in the trees.  With the help of my wife and lots of tree climbing, we put each one in at separate hive.  Then I spent a week worrying about them.  On may 23, my son stopped by for a visit and wanted to look at a beehive, so we looked in each of the 3 swarm hives.  Each one had eggs and a beautiful young queen!
