For ventelation,if you have an inter cover put screen over the hole and put a stick under the edge of the outer cover on one side. If no inter cover then lay two PCs.of board on top then a PC. of plywood to shield from sun.
Acts2:37: Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39: For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40: And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation

>Boy I don't know anything about this polishing of the cells. What is that about??

Basically I was trying to ask were they opening the brood nest by cleaning cells or closing it by backfilling :)

Have you ever read any of Walt Wright's articles on Reproductive Cut Off or supercedure? Google and read some of his thoughts. Alot of older beekeepers disagree with his observations but you may find them interesting.

By the way the last tidbit had nothing to do with polishing cells, I just went off on a wild tangent (sp)??? :-D

I am going to start reading his stuff and I find it very interesting.  I know he writes about the checkerboarding of the brood nest to prevent swarms.

I don't completely understand him yet, but I follow what Michael Bush has taught me and I keep the brood nest open by inserting empty frames with starter strips in between frames of brood. This has helped me prevent swarms, but this hive really got away from me.  I just did not expect the queen to be so prolific.
