All drones are being evicted, and what is that bee?

Thought I saw a huge amount of robbing today, ran and put the suit on, grabbed my gear....

The drones are being escorted from the building.  Lots.  In droves.

Did an inspection as long as I was there, and it appears that they've built no comb in the third medium (I use all mediums, so call it medium #3), which I added about the same time I stopped feeding.  Which was several months ago.

Bottom 2 are full of burr, etc, no drone cells, no queen cells, and some worker brood yet to hatch.  Saw no eggs, couple of larvae.  Old brood is now being backfilled with honey.  Workers are bringing in pollen, and I assume, nectar, although there isn't much blooming that I can see.

There were a few odd-looking bees - they had a cream colored marking on the back, about where a queen would be marked, but instead of a circular dot, more of a square or hourglass shape.  The other bees didn't pay any attention to them.  Weird.

I added an entrance reducer (on the wide slot), which they weren't very fond of.

Guess it's time to start feeding the heck out of them if I hope to have bees come spring.

Nuts.

Some days you just want to line them all up and start asking questions.
