My bees are all hiding inside, I miss seeing them, I like to know they are alright

I get that same longing each year when the bees go into hiding for days or weeks at a time.   :'(

Buy a cheap stethoscope on ebay and you can go listen to them.

Today it should get into the 60's here. I am excited to get to take a peek inside!

I plan to check on the stores and possibly give them more sugar. What I gave them 3 weeks ago is a very thick syrup I made. I will probably give them straight sugar today if they need.

The temp. got in the 60's today and I was able to get in my hives too.  I have been worried about the girls not having enough honey stores, so I read on here and had some advice from so people that I should use powdered sugar on newspaper in on top the the frames and I am aitches to see what happens.

Not powdered sugar, just plain old granulated sugar just like you put in your coffee.  Some powdered sugar has other ingredients that you don't want.

Are you sure you were told to use Powdered Sugar ??     :?

Powered Sugar contains corn starch, not good, actually BAD,BAD,BAD !!!

Getting late in the season now.

I'm actually relieved that they're all to bed finally for the winter.  Sure, I worry a little about them, but it finally frees me up from the constant hovering so that I can finally get some of the other projects done!! :-D

I'm with you on this one. I am grateful for the break right now.

I didn't use powdered sugar from the store I actually just blended regular sugar to a powdered form.  So don't be alarmed.  I should have been more clear sorry.

Yeah, but I bet before long you'll be yearning for spring.

Oh yeah, once February hits, that's when spring begins in my mind...I hate the waiting, but I love the buildup to spring because by the time the weather breaks I am sooo ready to go.  I need the winter because I'd get bored with summer without it.  And I also need a couple of months of downtime to do things inside the house because starting in May none of the inside projects will get done.

But for now I'm looking forward to climbing on the ice mountains on the Lake Michigan shoreline in February.
