I'm in hive beetle heaven here in Florida, I saw them the next day after bringing my nucs home. I'm sure there were some in the nucs but we switched the frames to my boxes and I only saw 1 or 2. The next day there was 10 or 15, so it's been a battle from the start. I kill most with my thumb and hive tool but I have added oil traps below my screen bottom boards. I have noticed there #'s dropping and hope to see less and less of them in the future.

I'm also in FL. We have 2 types of hives here; Type 1, the beetles invade the first day; Type 2, the beetles invade the first night. We don't put out hives unprotected. Doesn't make a whit of difference if they come with nucs, packages, or swarms, or fly in on their own. They will cause a hive to abscond in a short time, like 2 weeks if not controlled. Thumbs don't work here!
