I got my bees today, wow. I need to make a sugar solution. Can anyone tell me what a lb of sugar = in volume, is it a cup? Cup and a half? This would be very helpful thanks.

Jay

Buy a 5 lb. bag of sugar at the store, and mix it with 5 pints of warm water! This is a 1:1 ratio. :D

I think what was being hinted at was not every one has a scale, or their scale gets broke. So now we know, in a pinch 2 cups is a pound of sugar.

I have a 2 cup measureing cup and you can fill it five times with a 5 pound bag of sugar, but still have about 3-4 table spoons left so it close enough.
THAT's ME TO THE LEFT JUST 5 MONTHS FROM NOW!!!!!!!!

I have a wide mouth one gallon jug. I found out that a five pound bag of sugar + 10- cups of water just about fills it, so I don't measure anymore. I don't think the girls care about it being exact--nectar, after all, varies quite a bit.
