It took a few months of planning and getting approvals, but we finally installed the new beehives at the Governors mansion (as it is called) in Harrisburg, Pa.

Information and pictures can be seen here: www.pennapic.org

I know we are not the first state to have such hives at state capitols, etc., but we wanted to pass along the information, and the idea, of doing such public programs. It is a great outreach program and highly visible. And hopefully we can garner future support from such endeavors.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Oklahoma Republican Gov. Frank Keating, a former prosecutor, had a bee hive at the governor's mansion in the 1990s and early 2000s.  When Dem. Brand Henry, also a lawyer, came in to office he eventually had it removed.  Afraid of the liability of people getting stung. That's a Democrat lawyer for you.  :hissyfit:
