Beginer mistake - can we salvage our jar of honey?

Last week we took our first frame of capped honey.(first ever)
We brought it home and since we dont have an extractor we scraped the capping off, then with a spatula, scraped out everything down to the foundation. We piled it all in a kitchen stainless steel strainer and let it drain in to a stainless steel bowl. We got 2 jars of clear honey this way.
There was alot left in the strainer so we put that in to a nylon stocking and let it drain even more. The mistake we made was we then squeezed it through the nylon stocking by hand thinking we could force it through and speed up the process. All 3 jars were left open over night, then we skimmed anything that had risen to the tops in the morning.
All along, the last jar has looked hazy.
We have now enjoyed that first jar of honey and will be starting in on the 2nd one tomorrow.
The question is about the 3rd and final jar.
I expect it is hazy either because we squeezed or because we squeezed impurities through and into the jar.
It has been over 1 week now....is it too late to try filtering it again? If so, how?
I know it is only 1 jar but I hate to see it go to waste....
Is it good as is?

I'd say stick your finger in it and take a lick !!

You squeessed tiny bits of wax which had tiny bits of air into your jar.
Put it in some very warm/hot water for awhile or Set it on the window sill and let the sunshine heat it up for a few days, that should thin it enough the air should rise to the top, you will have a ring at the top of very small air bubbles.

If you should start selling honey, this is the kind of jar you will keep for your self.

hive stuff in the honey is not a problem.  might not look pretty, but it tastes fine.

Agree with the above. Its probably just a little wax mixed with alot of air. Place it in your car for a day or so in the sun and skim off the top. I would just eat it as is though :)

I'm glad we didn't chuck it out!
I'll be heating it up tomorrow on the deck. It should be a good hot day (for us), around 30 deg or in the upper 80's for most of you.

I had a couple of people that wanted non strained honey, straight out of the extractor.   They said they had been buying that way for a while from a person that charged double for non strained honey.   I gave them each a jar or honey (with trash and bubbles/ foam) for their health.

+1 on the mixed air.  In a couple of days it will be clear and you'll have a nice white film on top.  It will also go hazy when it starts crystallizing. 

It's all "bee barf" anyway, what else could be in there that's worse?? :roll: :-D  Anything else that could make it hazy would be pollen, and that's healthy too.

I agree 100% ;) Just wanted the poster to see definitely nothing wrong with the honey they have. Never heard of selling fermented honey.

As a youngster when we robbed a wild hive...... all went into a container. Mom would cut into pieces and pack in jars. When served on the table with hot home made biscuits I don't recall anything left...except maybe a part of or a dead bee body. :-D
