"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Hope you have some insulation on the top of the hives, I can just about hear the water dripping onto the cluster. I use a piece of 3/4 foam insulation inserted into the top cover. And a piece of 2 inch laying on the top cover.

Well, it was 72 degrees two days ago and I haven't even gotten the feeders off.  It will be mid fifties tomorrow and then bright sunshine, no clouds and in the sixties Friday....and the mountains will be stunningly beautiful.

If it's going to be cold, give me and the bees something to play in!

Bye bye wax moths and SHB too.

I am so glad my winters rarely get any snow, just wet and dreary.  Been here 10 years and think the wet dreary is better than snow, ice and COLD!!  The only part of Colorado I miss is the Elk hunting in the LaPlatas.

Such extremes are probably hard on the girls.  But it takes a lovely picture!

C'm'on Jim, What we are supposed to get does not even count. If we get it... :-P

The Bix,
Ya'know...It's America.  You are allowed to live somewhere that doesn't have SNOW in October!

beekeeperookie,
NEWARK!  Every year we went to the Ohio State Fair and saw people walking around with  "Where the H*ll is Newark Ohio"  T-shirts.  Have you been to the Dawes Arboretum?  I recommend it.
Make Mead!

BlueBee

Been to Dawes numerous times.  Fantastic place.

Got a tour of his house when I was down there about 2 weeks ago.  Ever wonder where all the money comes from to support such a massive arboretum?  Turns out Dawes was an oil man!

How would you like planting all those arbs on the south end of the arboretum :-D

We are into the 70's here for a few weeks now and it continues. Love it!! The snow sure looks pretty, but I don't like living with it. As a former New Yorker, I am glad I am away from that stuff.
