Sales are way off

WOW although I havent been tearing up the sales in the past..... They have come to a screaming halt..... and ideas how to break the dry spell?

I take it that you're talking about honey sales?

It's Christmas...  If you have a "Honey for Sale" sign hanging out front add a "Honey Makes Great Christmas Gifts!" sign to it.  Lot's of folks need a little help with their creative gift giving. :)  I strongly dislike the commercialization of Christmas but at least honey is a healthy, wholesome, natural product...better than a paisley tie made in Musragastan by wannabe terrorists.

Store it up til spring.   That is when people come crying to you needing honey and they just don't understand why you can't have any until summer when you can finally pull supers.   That is what I am doing will several boxes and a bucket that has not sold yet.

Cant get into the markets around here, they have them tied up tight. Been advertising on crags list and Facebook, have a website ..... sold all my spring honey this summer..... but have only sold 3 pounds of my fall harvest......

I would bet that there's lots of people that buy honey that don't have computers.  How did you sell your spring honey?....or maybe "who" did you sell it to?

If you have a vehicle you could do it the low-tech way...make up some flyers and put one on either side on the back windows?  Note on your flyer that honey is a great unique Christmas gift and put your phone number on there (yelp, you gotta have that number where folks can contact you).  Try to park your vehicle along high foot traffic areas.  Maybe a small ad in the local want-ads if you're in a rural area and have a small town newspaper.  Also, advertise in the free weekly sales papers...  If you have some folks that you regularly do business with ask them if you could put a flyer up there.  Co-ops, farm stores, community centers (older folks love honey, my mentor goes to the local senior center every week or two...the little ladies love him and I think he kinda likes being around them, too :) ).

Just put it out there...somebody's going to buy it but they've gotta know where to buy it at...and like I said, everybody doesn't get on the internet. ;)  Something else to think about is that with the recent mega busts on the Chinese rip-off honey we may see the price of honey begin to firm up...don't give your honey away.

I would try and make your jarred honey look christmasy just get some christmas fabric cut it in a square with pinking shears larger then the jar lid and take some ribbon or twine and place around fabric that is on lid and tie a bow. It would only cost you about $5.00 for a yard of fabric and spool of ribbon and that would do many jars.

Flea Markets are a great place because the cost for a table is very little...  The only downside is someone has to man the table all day... or as long as you want...  wouldn't hurt to try it on a Saturday.
