Still planning my maiden voyage, into beekeeping.
There are feral hogs loose (or they wouldn't be feral) in my 'neck of the woods'.
Is there anyway of making TBHives pig proof? Within reason! Bears are pretty much non existent here, and I would like to avoid fencing. How about if I attached the TBH's to 6x6 treated posts (set deep)  about 3 feet plus above ground? :?
The pigs are basically nocturnal, at least these are. I have got a rifle - but I can't see in the dark!
If the hive would withstand the initial assault, the bees would take care of the rest. Right?  :?

Feral pigs are everywhere! I have bee yards that are rooted every night by them. I've never had the pigs disturb a hive.

We trap the pigs...get quite a few too!

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

So needless to say your freezer stays pretty full? :)

Don't mean to hijack. We throw them in a pen and harvest as needed....no need for a freezer :)
