Friends, the lid on my smoker is almost impossible to open and close because of the residue caked on it.

How do you remove the build up so you have a smoother fit?

Easiest way is to burn it off with a torch.  Once it is burnt, it forms a hard crust that is easily brushed off.

Propane torch from home improvement store. Map gas gets much hotter than propane. Just brush it off after cooking it good.

I use the same torch that I use to light my smoker.  Man, that torch is handy.  It even toasts marshmellows. :)

LOL  My brother is a chef and uses one for his Creme Brulee!  Looks like you have some inside info ROBO!  There are SO many uses for those torches.  Great buy for the money.

Thanks, friends. I'm gonna torch it.

I have to torch mine ever so often too.  But then, I "kinda" ran over it with the atv last week and I dont think the torch will help that !

I have a self igniting torch I use to light it and it works great for cleaning it... :)

I've always used wads of old blue jean material in my smoker and I don't get that much gunk on the inside.

I set a wad of blue jean material on fire the other day with my torch.

Unfortunately it wasn't in my smoker, they were still on my body.

Been there.  Done that.  My employer now provides Flame Retardant (FR) clothing and insists I wear it, so I'm a little safer now.  At least from my own torch.  I call them my flaming retard clothes.   :)
