Hi all,
I'm new on this forum. I have been keeping bees for about 35 years and always learning and reading.
We keep between 15 and 20 hives plus a number of nuc's. We also teach basic beekeeping workshops with a strong practical lean and sell starter kits and nuc's
I'm semi-retired from our consultancy business and bees and the garden are my main focus these days.
I was born in Switzerland but have lived in Australia for well over 40 years.
My background is in mechanical and civil engineering design.
We live in an Ecovillage north of Brisbane. I enjoy pretty well everything related to beekeeping and always looking for a way to do things easier. ( current project: dealing with cappings in a non-messy way!)

Since I started washing my cappings with hot water until the 'wastewater' is the correct specific gravity,  add yeast, yeast nutrient and energizer and ferment it, I just haven't have had as much mess.  I do have 12 gallons of mead bulk aging after a secondary fermentation with peaches, plums and pie cherries in different batches.

Welcome to the forum, Max2.  With all your experience you will be another person to help us that have come to beek lately.  Good luck to you and your bees.

Welcome Max, I keep my hives on the Gold Coast but am based on the northside of Brisbane,

quick question do you keep them all together in one place or are they spread out in the surrounding area?
