bees building under SBB what the hack?

10 days ago I checked my strongest hive, 5 meds. with lots of stores. To my surprise no brood no eggs but lots of bees. Put a frame of open brood and eggs and sure enough today I saw two Q cells, good news. Decided to put a sticky board under to check for V mites so I looked under the SBB first and DANG bees with 5 drawn out cones with brood. Moved the hive turned the SBB over and cut out and put in 5 frame nuc. These bees never cease to amaze me.

Anyone have a idea what  may have happened here?

Seems to be the thing this year. Someone recently had bees and dawn comb under their screen bottom but no brood. Someone else noted a past situation where a mated queen returned to a void under the screen bottom instead of in the hive and carried on with her business.
